Jai Bright is an international award winning artist and cultural leader whose work bridges classical excellence, contemporary storytelling, and global engagement. Hailing from Washington, D.C., Bright is recognized for a voice of rare warmth and presence—praised by The Florentine as “a voice of great warmth, that belongs to a star.”

 

An alum of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Bright refined his craft at Morgan State University and The Boston Conservatory, developing a career that spans opera, theatre, orchestral performance, television, and crossover collaborations. His operatic and theatrical credits include leading roles and secondary roles with Shakespeare Opera Theatre, Prototype Festival, Maryland Opera, and concert recitals across Europe, Africa, and the United States. He portrayed Walter Lee Younger in A Raisin in the Sun and appeared in the 2011 revival of William Grant Still’s A Troubled Island as Jean-Jacques and Martel.

 

Bright has performed notable world premieres and historic engagements, including the 2015 world premierre of The Smithsonian's new opera "Qatar" (Tony Small), 2017 world premiere of Ring Dem Christmas Bells with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and a command performance of the National Anthem for King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla. His career has also included collaboration with legendary artists such as Patti LaBelle, Andrea Bocelli.

 

His work has been featured on national platforms including the National Christmas Tree Lighting, the Kennedy Center Honors, and Good Day DC. Beyond the stage, Bright sits on the leadership board of several organizations such as Opera Cinema and The Bright Family Cultural Institute. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia’s School of Business, where his focus is mentorship, professional development, and cultivating creative leadership for a changing world.
